AcademyTailor is built for institutions that run on SAP. It runs on SAP BTP1, signs people in through SAP Cloud Identity Services2 and posts the money to SAP S/4HANA3 – without changing a single line in the ERP core. Your SAP Basis team gets a subaccount, not a modification.

Portal and Fiori
Students, teachers, registry and finance work today in a portal with eight areas in English and German. SAP Fiori elements is in preview4 and will become the one app for every role.
AcademyTailor
SAP Cloud Application Programming Model with Node.js and TypeScript, OData V4, MTX sidecar, one HDI container per tenant in SAP HANA Cloud, approuter with IAS, Credential Store for secrets, application logging.
SAP S/4HANA
Receivables in contract accounting (FI-CA) or accounts receivable (FI-AR), business partners, payment status back. Reached via destinations – in your own data centre5 or in RISE.
No user ever waits for SAP.
Whatever S/4HANA must post lands in the outbox first – in the same transaction as the booking that triggers it. Delivery follows, with retries and a circuit breaker. A slow S/4, or one in maintenance, never leaves a save hanging.

One HDI container per institution
No tenant column in the tables.6 Separation lives in the database, and a per-tenant export is built in.
All containers before start
The MTA deployment upgrades every tenant before the new version answers requests. If an upgrade fails, the deployment aborts.
Roles as policies
Owner, admin, back office, member – refined by organisational unit, programme and capability. AMS supplies the attributes, the database filters.2
Credential Store
SMTP passwords, AI keys and webhook credentials are stored as references in the Credential Store, never in plain text in a table.
OData, REST, webhooks
OData V4 for Fiori, REST with API keys, webhooks with HMAC7, LMS sync. OneRoster and Ed-Fi are roadmap.
Rules with mandatory tests
73 rule modules, at least 90 % test coverage8, unit and service tests required before every push.

AcademyTailor follows the process areas of SAP Student Lifecycle Management and uses its terms. It is built differently: tables instead of infotypes, tested rules instead of rule containers, tenants instead of one system per institution.

Questions from SAP Basis.
- Does AcademyTailor need a modification in SAP ERP?
- No. AcademyTailor runs on SAP BTP beside the ERP and talks to S/4HANA through destinations and the Cloud Connector. In the ERP, receivables and business partners are created – through interfaces, not through changes to the core.
- Which SAP services does AcademyTailor require?
- An SAP BTP subaccount with Cloud Foundry, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS, with AMS for permissions), the destination and connectivity services, and the SAP Cloud Connector if S/4HANA runs in your own data centre or in RISE.
- Does AcademyTailor post to FI-CA or FI-AR?
- To both – configurable per tenant. Institutions with contract accounting post tuition as receivables in FI-CA, others in accounts receivable FI-AR.
- How strong is tenant separation?
- Each tenant has its own HDI container in SAP HANA Cloud. There is no tenant column in the tables through which data could mix.
- How are updates rolled out?
- As an MTA deployment on SAP BTP. Before a new version starts, all tenant containers are upgraded; if that fails, the deployment aborts and the old version keeps running.
- How do SLcM terms map to AcademyTailor?
- AcademyTailor follows the process areas of SAP Student Lifecycle Management and uses its terms: program of study, module, module group, module booking, appraisal, degree audit, hold, contract account. Anyone who knows SLcM will feel at home.
